Fishing in the Neighborhood
Learn how to fish confidently right where you live. This beginner-friendly course takes place at Robbins Island on Foot Lake, offering a hands-on introduction to freshwater fishing in a real local setting.
Participants will cover the basics, including how to choose and use fishing gear, tie essential knots, identify common Minnesota fish species, and understand state regulations and seasons. The course also teaches how to read the water, select effective bait and lures, and practice responsible, conservation-minded fishing.
No prior experience is required. Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing gear; limited equipment may be available if needed. Younger participants should be accompanied by an adult to assist during the class.
