Willmar Community Education is not taking registrations for this course. Complete this course to get a 10% discount in your auto insurance premiums! Taught as a presentation from a certified instructor, you’ll discuss challenges we face as drivers, new road designs, vehicle technology, and updates on current laws. Best of all, there are no written or behind the wheel tests! Certificate will be provided at the end of class. The Driver Discount Program is a state approved accident prevention/insurance discount course that is open to the public; pre-registration is required. People ages 55 and older who complete the course qualify for a 10% discount on their auto insurance premiums. Afro-Peruvian Dance and DrummingEnrichmentAfro-Peruvian Dance This dance class will focus on Afro-Peruvian Festejo, a fast-paced music genre that is celebratory and energetic. You will have fun and learn to move your body to the rhythm of African beats. All skill levels are welcome. Dress comfortably for movement and bring your water bottle! Classes will be taught in English and in Spanish. Kids (ages 5-12), Wednesdays at 9:00-9:45 AM, register for S26-A-A/P-DANCE-KIDS Youth (ages 13-17), Wednesdays at 11:00-11:45 AM, register for S26-A-A/P-DANCE-YOUTH Adults (ages 18+), Thursdays at 5:00-5:45 PM, register for S26-A-A/P-DANCE-ADULTS Dance Performers (ages 18+), Thursdays at 6:00-7:00 PM, register for S26-A-A/P-DANCE-PERFORMERS Afro-Peruvian Drumming In this percussion class you will learn the basic rhythms of the cajon (drum box). WaitlistAmerica Red Cross Aquatics Certification CoursesAmerican Red Cross Certification CoursesBecome certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, and First Aid- valid 2 years. Attendance at all class sessions is mandatory. Age Prerequisite: Be at least 15 years old on or before the final scheduled session of the course. Skill Prerequisites: Complete a swim-tread-swim sequence without stopping to rest: Jump into the water and totally submerge, resurface then swim 150 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. (Swimming on the back or side is not permitted. Swim goggles are allowed) Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs Swim 50 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds: Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. (The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed). Submerge to a depth of 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object. Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping the face out at or near the surface. Exit the water without using a ladder or steps. Become certified in American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor- valid 2 years. Attendance at all class sessions is mandatory. This is a blended learning class with online course work required before the first day of class. Age Prerequisite: Must be at least 15 years old by the last day of class. Skill Prerequisites: Demonstration of swimming skills equivalent to Red Cross Level 4 swim lesson requirements Swim the following strokes consistent with Level 4: Front Crawl, Back Crawl, Breaststroke, Elementary Backstroke & Sidestroke- 25 yards; Butterfly- 15 yards Back float for 1 minute (floating or sculling) Tread water for 1 minute Participants need to bring swim gear (no bikini suits), towels, pen, highlighter, water bottle, lunch and snacks each day. AquaTotsSwim LessonsSummer session #1: June 22-25 and 29-July 2, 2026 Summer session #2: July 6-9 and 13-16, 2026 Summer session #3: July 20-23 and 27-30, 2026 AquaTots: ages 1-4 (with parent/guardian) The purpose of this class is to provide a confidence-building experience while guiding adults in helping their child explore the aquatic environment through water play. Swim diapers are required in the pool for any children that are not yet potty trained. A parent, guardian, or household member (at least 15 years old) must accompany the child in the water. Session 1 2:35-3:00 PM S26-SWIM-AT-FS1-2:35 Session 2 2:15-2:40 PM S26-SWIM-AT-FS2-2:15 Session 3 11:40 AM-12:05 PM S26-SWIM-AT-FS3-11:40 Tadpole: ages 4+ This class introduces a child to a structured lesson with an emphasis on having a fun and fearless experience. They work on getting face wet, basic float techniques, rolling from front to back, and more. Safety skills include asking permission before entering the water and using a lifejacket. No prior swimming lessons required. Octopus: ages 4+ Students will work on the fundamentals of the front and back stroke using a combined arm/leg motion and learn to achieve independent floats. The desired outcome is for the student to be comfortable with less instructor assistance. Safety skills include calling for help, throwing assists, and treading water. Prerequisite: Must be comfortable putting face in the water while doing assisted front float. Jellyfish: ages 5+ Students continue to work on the front and back stroke, working toward swimming 10 yards with face in the water and without assistance. Safety skills include treading water and survival float. Prerequisite: Independent front and back float. Seal: ages 5+ Students will work on freestyle and backstroke with an emphasis on rotary breathing, body roll, and arm extension. Safety skills include using a lifejacket. Prerequisite: Be able to swim 10 yards independently with face in the water (no doggy paddle). Sea Otter: ages 6+ Students continue to refine freestyle and backstroke for the full length of pool and butterfly is introduced. Safety skills include learning how to help others in an emergency. Swordfish: ages 6+ Students continue to refine freestyle, backstroke, and butterfly. The breaststroke, open and closed turns are introduced. Safety skills include water safety concepts, treading water, and survival float. Unsure of your child's swimming skill? Competitive CheerEnrichmentOur cheer program is divided into divisions. Divisions 1-4 are perfect for beginner to intermediate athletes ages 4 to 18 years old. Athletes ages 6 and up with perfect attendance are eligible to tryout for a higher division at the end of each season. Classes start at $10 a week for lower levels. Athletes attend practice once a week where they learn the fundamentals of cheerleading from certified coaches. Each semester, teams learn and perform at least one full routine for parents and at competitions. These events aren’t mandatory for beginner and intermediate classes, but they are a lot of fun! State competitions are open to all levels and qualifying teams have the chance to compete at national events.2026 Fall
