Exploring Life Sciences: Frog and Worm Dissection

Dive into the fascinating world of biology through hands-on dissection, led by Middle School Science Teachers, Mr. Kuznik and Mrs. Wulftange! In this engaging life sciences class, students will explore the internal anatomy of both earthworms and frogs to gain a deeper understanding of how body systems function and interact. Starting with a simple invertebrate—the earthworm—students will identify major organs and systems before progressing to the more complex anatomy of a frog.

This guided dissection experience will teach proper lab safety and dissection techniques while emphasizing respect for living organisms and scientific inquiry. Students will make observations, record findings, and compare the anatomical structures of different species to understand the diversity of life.

Learning Objectives:

• Identify key internal and external structures of earthworms and frogs
• Understand how various body systems (digestive, circulatory, respiratory, etc.) work
• Develop skills in scientific observation, note-taking, and lab safety
• Explore the similarities and differences between invertebrate and vertebrate anatomy

Materials Provided: Dissection specimens, lab kits, gloves, goggles, worksheets, and guided instructions.
