Springboard DivingSpringboard DivingLearn basic diving skills progressing throughout the summer! Skill prerequisites: must be able to tread water for one minute and independently swim 25 yards (full length of pool) of a recognizable stroke. Introduction to Diving: Focusing on proper approaches and how to use the board. We will be working with dryland exercises as well as diving approaches. Diving Fundamentals: Focusing on proper use of the board, dryland exercises, working towards entering the water head first as well as introduction to other dives. Dive Strengthening: Focusing on proper approaches, head first dives, dryland exercises, and overall growing as a diver. This means STARTING to work on each dive category, the end goal is to do head first dives from each category (front, back, inward, twisters, and reverse). Participants must be able to enter the water headfirst. Dive Growth & Goals: Focusing on approaches, dryland exercises, and head first dives. These sessions will focus on growing overall diving lists, starting to do flips and more. These weeks will focus on growing both head first and feet first dives. Participants must have experience with approaches and basic dives, and be willing to work on more advanced dives. Seasons Greetings: Youth who are not in the sport itself but want to continue growing their diving experience are welcome! These sessions will focus on approaches, dryland exercises, and working on growing the techniques in the dives they already have secured. We will encourage children to make positive choices while promoting self-awareness, fostering creativity, and providing leadership opportunities. We offer homework help, crafts, activities, organized physical activities, outside time, social opportunities, computer lab, science experiments, cooking projects, and so much more! Once a month, we collaborate with 4-H/University of Minnesota Extension to offer a fun alternative to our regular programming. We are open holiday breaks, during late starts and early releases, and on days when school is cancelled. All non-school days must be registered for separately. The Little Mermaid!EnrichmentJoin Spotlight Theatre workshop for a fun and intense week of putting together a fully staged musical all in just 5 days! This is a great opportunity to be in a production with ALL the theatre elements! We will audition, learn our dances, songs, wear great costumes, and perform a great show for the community! Our story is based on the classic tale, The Little Mermaid, but with a twist! This is not the Disney version, but it is just as fun and entertaining! We have even more sea creatures…..and yes, pirates! All experience levels are encouraged to join. *Participants must be present for both performances. *For the Friday performances, participants stay from 4-4:30 to get ready for our first performance. *Participants have a break between the 4:30 and the 7pm show, and can leave with their families if desired.
